Strengthening Coaching Pathways: Racialized Hockey Coach Mentorship and Network Development

This study evaluated the MLSE Hockey Coach Education Program (HCEP), which supports racialized coaches entering hockey, a sport where they remain significantly underrepresented. Drawing on surveys and interviews with over 50 participating coaches, the research found high rates of confidence, satisfaction, and skill development, and highlights how being mentored and networked with other racialized coaches helps them feel supported and stay in the sport.
